Kids motor scooters make a fantastic gift for children 8 years and older. These machines are not just toys, but they are also a great way for your child to get away from the TV for a while and gain independence and mobility.

There are essentially 2 kinds of kids motor scooters, an electric motor scooter or gas powered scooters. If you have a younger child or if he is a beginner to this, then I would suggest getting him an electric motor scooter. Teens or older kids might prefer gas powered scooters for their additional speed and power.

While looking at the wide range of kids motor scooters available, do not forget to purchase a helmet for safety. Scooters and helmets today come in a wide range of colors and designs and for this reason, motorized scooters are not just a boys toy. In fact, they even come in colors such as pink and yellow.

Personally, I feel that electric scooters make the best kids motor scooters as it also teaches them about protecting our fragile environment. Unlike gas powered scooters, an electric motor scooter is a totally green vehicle and does not give out any harmful emissions. An electric motor scooter also travels at a slower speed and thus is a safer choice. It's also no wonder that the majority of younger children prefer electric scooters as most of them have a less aggressive design compared to their gas powered counterparts.

Kids motor scooters are not just toys and can be used to travel short distances. Your child could travel to school on his own, or to his friend's home a few blocks away. He could even help run errands for you, so long as he can get there and back within 40 mins, which is roughly how long the electric motor scooter can last between charges. He will be able to learn to be independent and have a relatively safe but fun ride.
